To study in Norway, you must have general study qualifications. Some studies also have special admission requirements in addition. Before you apply, you must read about which requirements apply to you, and what you must upload of documentation in the application.

Nigeria - admission requirements

To study in Norway, you must have general study qualifications.

Do you have general study qualifications?

You have general study qualifications when you have:

Completed high school

  • National Examinations Council, Senior School Certificate with at least 6 subjects of which English, mathematics and one science subject (either biology, chemistry or physics) must be passed or

  • West African Examinations Council, West African Senior School Certificate with at least 6 subjects of which English, mathematics and one science subject (either biology, chemistry or physics) must be passed or

  • West African Examinations Council, Senior School Certificate with at least 6 subjects of which English, mathematics and one science subject (either biology, chemistry or physics) must be passed or

  • West African Examinations Council, General Certificate of Education, 
    Ordinary Level (O-Level) and 
    West African Examinations Council, General Certificate of Education, 
    Advanced level (A-Level) with at least 3 subjects at A level

  • At least 1 year of higher education

    If you have a Senior School Certificate or General Certificate of Education, Ordinary Level (and not A-level), you must also have at least 1 year of education from a university approved by the authorities in the country

  • Documented knowledge of Norwegian and English

    To gain general study competence, you must document English and an approved test in Norwegian.

    You have covered the requirement for English if you have passed the English Language at Senior School Certificate or at GCE, Ordinary or Advanced level

    Uploaded the correct documentation

    It is important that you upload the correct documentation in your application.

  • Nigeria - special admission requirements

    Some studies have special admission requirements in addition to general study competence. Special admission requirements may be that you have taken certain subjects, that you have a certain grade, or that you have passed an entrance exam.

    Is approved if you have

    Mathematics R1 and Mathematics R2

    Mathematics at the General Certificate of Education, Advanced level

    Physics 1 and Physics 2

    Physics at the General Certificate of Education, Advanced level

    Chemistry 1 and Chemistry 2

    Chemistry at General Certificate of Education,  Advanced level

    Biology 1 and Biology 2

    Biology at General Certificate of Education, Advanced level

    Special admission requirements from higher education

    You can also cover special admission requirements with subjects from higher education.

    Some studies require specific grades
